Warning: the first look at VH1’s upcoming biopic “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story” may cause severe ’90s flashbacks.
Starring Keke Palmer as Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, Lil Mama as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Drew Sidora as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, the scripted drama takes a behind-the-scenes look at the R&B girl group’s rise to fame and the tragic circumstances surrounding Lopes’ untimely death in 2002.
VH1’s teaser relies mostly on iconic imagery from TLC’s most famous music videos including “Creep,” “No Scrubs” and their biggest hit: “Waterfalls.” And there may be a hint to the film’s approach in the following line of dialogue: “We’re keeping it real. We’ve got a message and an attitude that people want to hear.”
“CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story” is set to debut Oct. 21 on VH1.
