“La Femme Nikita” lives to kill again.
The CW has picked up the pilot for a TV remake of “La Femme Nikita” and a family drama by the producers of “Gilmore Girls,” reports THR’s Live Feed.
“Nikita, which centers on a young condemned criminal who’s trained as a top-secret assassin, has already lived many lives. There’s the original French movie in 1990 by Luc Besson, the Hong Kong film “Black Cat” (1991) and American remake “Point of No Return” (1993) starring Bridget Fonda and the USA Network TV series also called “La Femme Nikita” (1997-2001) starring Peta Wilson.
In The CW update, a new assassin is trained to replace Nikita, who’s gone rogue.
In more gentle CW news, the network has also ordered a family drama from “Gilmore Girls'” producers Amy Sherman Palladino and Dan Palladino.
The as yet untitled drama is set on a Wyoming horse farm.
Both projects seem consistent with appealing to The CW’s target demo of younger women.
