The Jets keep making stupid decisions. Like trading for Tim Tebow, then benching him all season. Like hiring a new general manager without firing the head coach. The newest dumb move? Possibly trading Darrelle Revis.
Multiple sources have reported Revis is on the table for a future trade deal, which was news to the cornerback, who has been with the team since they selected him in the first round of the 2007 draft.
Amid the outcry by Jets fans, Revis tweeted, “I’m speechless by far but more importantly I feel more upset for the jet nation for having to go through this.” He followed it up with, “I guess we’ll see how this plays out.”
Revis sat out a portion of the 2012 season with a torn ligament, but his performance prior to the injury was far superior to that of inexplicable Rex Ryan fave, Mark Sanchez. Revis holds two New York Jets franchise records, and fans on Twitter say he’s always been a Jet and he should retire a Jet.
The team’s owner, Woody Johnson, who recently claimed Tebow was “forced” on him, hasn’t helped matters by declining to deny a possible trade deal. Instead, as NFL.com reports, Johnson defers to new GM John Idzik, who will reveal only that “it’s way premature to say anything specific.”
Talk about watching a franchise implode …
