The “Arrested Development” movie has been bandied about Hollywood since … well, pretty much since the show went off the air in 2006. David Cross tells Zap2it that he’s more hopeful about it than he’s been in awhile.
“I’m more optimistic about it than I was a year ago,” Cross laughs. He starts to say that he won’t really believe it’s true until he sees a script, but he stops himself. “Until I’m standing on set and someone yells, ‘Action!’ That’s when I’ll believe it’s really real.”
When pressed for what he thinks his character Tobias Funke will be up to when the movie picks up, Cross deadpans, “It’ll be the year 2087. He’ll be working on a garbage barge in space. And it’ll be made out of wasabi peas, which of course, he’s allergic to. But he’ll be hungry … .”
Cross will be back on the small screen starting Friday, Oct. 1 in a new IFC original mini-series “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret,” also starring “Arrested Development” alum Will Arnett.
