After losing his “America’s Got Talent” job to Howie Mandel, being the first cut on Season 11 of “Dancing With the Stars” and having his own reality show canceled one day after the premiere, the 58-year-old actor and singer is apparently on thin ice at his new gig.
The Daily Mail reports Hasselhoff will be released from his judging duties on the UK iteration of his former show, “Britain’s Got Talent,” after just one season. Pointing to a sharp drop in ratings (the show was down 1 million from the premiere), Hasselhoff’s apparent inability to understand regional accents and the fact that he’s confused Scotland and Ireland.
Way to represent the U.S., Hoff.
The show that introduced the world to Susan Boyle has had a tough adjustment period for its latest run. Following the departures of judges Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan — both of whom decided to focus on projects in the U.S. — Hasselhoff and comedian Michael McIntyre filled the empty seats.
If Cowell, who still serves as executive producer, reportedly gets his way, Hasselhoff will be replaced by U.K. “X Factor” judge Louis Walsh in the next season.
