Syfy premiered new transmedia series “Defiance” on Monday (April 15), achieving the network’s best scripted series debut in adults 18-49 since “Eureka” in 2006, with 1.3 million viewers.
Total viewers earned was 2.7 million and in adults 25-54 was 1.4 million, which is the network’s best since 2009. The two-hour telecast also averaged a 2.0 household rating.
But “Defiance” isn’t just a television show. Its video game, which goes hand-in-hand with the show, though is not necessary for viewers to play in order to enjoy the program, has seen six million hours of gameplay since its launch two weeks ago.
Finally, “Defiance” also had a big social media presence on its premiere day, earning nearly 60,000 social exposures, which tops “Game of Thrones” and “The Americans” on their respective premiere days.
“Defiance” airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy.
