The first season of Syfy’s “Defiance” ended on quite the cliffhanger, but Season 2 will answer all your questions, promises creator Kevin Murphy. Says star Stephanie Leonidas, “Expect the unexpected in Season 2 with that ending. It doesn’t quite go the way that people think it will.”
The cast of the futuristic drama talked about their groundbreaking show, and what fans can expect when it returns in June. The main takeaway? Two words: Naked Alak. “There is a lot of naked Alak in Season 2,” teases star Jesse Rath. “What’s cool about playing a naked alien is when they put the makeup on you every angle they put shading, so, as you can imagine, when they’re doing my whole body they make me look more muscular than I actually am.”
Jokes co-star Grant Bowler, “It takes me at least an hour and a half to paint his body every morning.”
In all seriousness, though, Season 2 will focus more on expanding the new Earth on which Defiance exists. Says Murphy, “We always wanted to take Season 1 to establish the town, and then once we got that footing down, expand the world.”
The new episodes will show us Angel Arc — formerly known as Los Angeles — along with the new cities where New York and Chicago used to be. “We’re going to find out more about what’s going on in the world,” says Murphy.
“Defiance” Season 2 premieres Thursday, June 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy.
