The show is called “Alex + Amy” and revolves around the romance between a 22-year-old guy and a 32-year-old woman who have just moved in together, EW reports. The logline also plays up the (half-) generational difference between the “Millennial” guy and his “Gen X” girlfriend.
The demographics may be a little fuzzy — someone who’s 32 in 2013 would have born in 1981, which is either the very tail end of Generation X or the start of the Millennial cohort — but there’s potentially a lot of material to cover in the way they see the world. It also runs counter to the showbiz norm by having the woman be the older half of the couple.
Cody won an Oscar in 2008 for her “Juno” screenplay. “Alex + Amy” will be her second TV series after “Tara”; her other writing credits include “Jennifer’s Body,” “Young Adult” and the upcoming “Evil Dead” remake.
