Disney is gearing up to celebrate the release of “Monsters University” in a big way.
The company has announced that, on May 24, three of their theme parks will be open for a full 24 hours in honor of the highly-anticipated Disney-Pixar sequel. Calling the event an “All-Nighter,” Disney says that Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, as well as Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure in California, will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. on May 25.
Disney announced the event, the first in the company’s history to include parks on both coasts, on Thursday night (April 25) by turning the iconic sphere of Spaceship Earth in Epcot into a 180-foot-tall, fully animated Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal‘s character from the film).
The company tried this once before, in Disneyland only, to celebrate Leap Year on Feb 29, 2012. The park was so overwhelmed with guests, it reached capacity and was forced to shut its gates.
“Monsters University” hits theaters June 21.
