Disney’s “The Pirate Fairy” celebrated National Talk Like A Pirate Day in its own very special way. The straight-to-Blu-ray release issued two new images: one to celebrate the holiday, and the other to showcase the characters voiced by Christina Hendricks and Tom Hiddleston.
In the film, Hendricks plays Zarina, a fairy who longs to be a pirate. She joins a band of pirates in Neverland, and along the way meets a cabin boy named James, who is voiced by Hiddleston. Though they start off as friends, it’s later revealed that James will become Captain Hook.
“This is definitely my first pirate part, but hopefully not my last one,” Hendricks tells USA Today. “Zarina is definitely a spunky little thing. She’s a fairy who dives into full-on pirate. … I was able to bring out my playful side and to act like a pirate in a very small room in a very silly way.”
Hiddleston echoed similar sentiments to Zap2it at the D23 Expo. “For the first time I get to sing in the film, and a Disney film no less. It was really fun to do that because it’s something that I haven’t done much of. And it’s a fun, swashbuckling, kind of upbeat, optimistic pirate song,” he said.
Disney’s “The Pirate Fairy” is set for a Spring 2014 release.
