peter capaldi matt smith doctor who wizard world gi 'Doctor Who': Matt Smith hopes Peter Capaldi isn't as good as he was

Matt Smith has high hopes for Peter Capaldi, the man who follows him as the lead on “Doctor Who,” but they aren’t too high. The actor still holds the role near and dear to his heart, and hopes a new Doctor doesn’t mean his will be forgotten.
During an appearance at Wizard World Minneapolis, via, Smith jokes, “Will he be better than me? I hope not.” Smith continues, “He’ll be different, and it will be a different show and it will be a new show and that’s what ‘Doctor Who’ is about, and I’ve got to let it go. And the great thing about it is everyone has their own Doctor. So, hopefully, there’s a few eight or nine-year-olds out there who I’ve claimed.”
Still, he knows Capaldi will excel in the role. “Peter will be brilliant,” he tells fans. “He’s a lovely man. He’s going to do something which is inventive and new, and he’s doing really well and he’s having a good time.”
Fans will get to see how Capaldi approaches the role when “Doctor Who” Season 8 premieres later in the year on BBC America. If they want to follow Smith, it shouldn’t be too hard. After all, he was just cast in “Terminator: Genesis.”
