Former “Doctor Who” star Tom Baker was used to fighting Daleks and more during his time as commander of the TARDIS. However, seemingly none of his foes compared to the management at the BBC during his tenure.
Speaking at an event promoting the launch of classic episodes of the series on The Horror Channel, the Independent reports Baker revealed, “The monsters on ‘Doctor Who’ were never so amazing as the monsters on the sixth floor as I remember them. There were some very improbable looking people there, who would make signs and nudge you and things.”
In fact, when answering a question about en episode where he causes an explosion that destroys an alien race, Baker quips, “If somebody gave me two wires now and said, ‘If you touch them together you could blow up the whole BBC,’ I think I might be tempted, yeah. But I’d only be tempted for a second — and then I’d do it!”
Still, Baker remains a fan of “Doctor Who,” which was evidenced by his cameo appearance on “The Day of the Doctor.” Though he turned down an appearance on the 20th anniversary special, “The Five Doctors,” times have changed. “Now, of course, if someone asked me to do a scene with some other Doctors, I think, if they let me tamper with the script, it would probably be quite droll,” he says. “I would think about that, yes.”
