In “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23,” almost 26-year-old June (Dreama Walker), a wide-eyed blonde from Indiana, has moved to NYC because she got a job at a mortgage company. It promptly is raided by the cops and so – no job, no company-provided apartment.
She moves in with Chloe (Krysten Ritter), a girl who makes money by duping unsuspecting wide-eyed Midwesterners into giving her first, last and security deposit to move in and then acts so insane that they move out. And James Van Der Beek is her straight gay BFF.
But June is not your typical girl. She fights back and Chloe decides to like her, then exposes June’s rat of a fiance by screwing him on June’s birthday cake. As one does.
So what did you think? We found this to be one of the funnier pilots for the 2011-12 season. It’s definitely weird, but the quirkiness was used for some darn good jokes. Plus, Ritter and Walker have good chemistry together and Van Der Beek’s willingness to make fun of himself is pretty priceless.
We can’t wait to see if the quirkiness keeps up the funny, but we have a good feeling about it. Will you be tuning in to “Apartment 23” next week?
