Julia Louis-Dreyfus picked up her third consecutive Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the 66th Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Selina Meyer on “Veep.”  After celebrating the win with a now-viral kiss with “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston, Louis-Dreyfus expounds upon her joy at playing the most comically dysfunctional vice president on television in the Emmy press room.

“The part of playing an unhappy vice president is just a slam dunk as far as I’m concerned. I love the idea of being powerful and powerless at the same time,” the actress says. “It mirrors Hollywood in lots of ways and it’s lots of fun to play. It’s a phenomenal role.”
Louis-Dreyfus also expresses her gratitude that “Veep” has been so warmly embraced by politicians. “It’s quite extraordinary how the political world — Capitol Hill — has opened up to our show and is willing to play with us. It’s been sort of dreamy,” she says.
The actress is surrounded by a fantastic comedic cast and crew on the show, but they aren’t the only team contributing to her success. She gives a very special shout-out to make-up and hair artists that helped her get ready for award ceremony. “If I didn’t have my glam squad you wouldn’t believe how s****y I would look right now. I have an extraordinary team that puts this all together.”
