In last week’s episode of the Friday FOX comedy “Enlisted,” Army Sgt. Pete Hill (Geoff Stults) moved into an Airstream trailer off-base to gain respite from both his younger brothers — all three are stationed at the same Florida base — and the rest of the platoon.
To his surprise, shortly after settling in, Pete found youngest brother Randy (Parker Young) using his bathroom and wandering naked around the trailer.
Apparently, something similar happened in real life.
“The long and the short of it is,” says Stults during filming at the show’s sets on the 20th Century Fox lot in Los Angeles, “one day, whatever time it was, it was late, I heard the washer go off. I was in bed, walked downstairs, put a load from the washer into the dryer so I could go back to sleep, or to finally go to bed. I think I was waiting for it, so it would be ready in the morning.
“I flip on a light, I’m standing there naked — it’s my house — and [Young] comes walking around the corner. He’s like, ‘Hey, what are you doing here?’ ‘What do you mean, what am I doing here? It’s my house. What the f*** are you doing here?’
“He was like, ‘Oh, yeah, I knew it was late, so I didn’t text you, but I knew where the key was.'”
And here’s Young’s version of the same incident: “There’s been a couple of those [incidents]. He didn’t know I was sleeping at his house, middle of the night. We both ended up in his kitchen. I surprised him, butt-naked in his kitchen. ‘What are you doing in my house?’ ‘The front door was open. I needed a place to sleep down in Hermosa.’ That was our first weekend hanging out.
“He leaves out the details, but he was naked as well. It wasn’t just me parading around naked. It was his home, and he thought he was alone, so …'”
“Not so, not so,” says Stults about the notion his door was open. “Anyway, that was one time. The second time — I don’t remember which was first — but I knew he was around. I knew he was staying that time; I didn’t even know he was in town that time.
“The other time, I knew he was around. He was staying in my house, and I went upstairs. It was late, I had woken up in the middle of the night and went upstairs to get very specifically a Coke and a water.
“I flip on the light, and I’m just sitting there, drinking a Coke and a water. He walks around the corner, and he’s got a blanket on, but it’s just barely covering his shoulders, and he’s totally naked. I’m naked, and we’re sitting in the kitchen having a convo.
“There you have it. It was like, ‘Hey, man,’ and I was like, ‘Hey, dude,’ and that was that.”
Asked if this has ever happened with his real-life brother, actor and “7th Heaven” co-star George Stults, Stults says, “Uh,yeah, it does happen occasionally. My actual brother wears very small underwear. He’s not as naked as us.”
