Before the final season of “Entourage” premiered last year, series creator Doug Ellin said he hoped a feature film based on the show would be done in about 16 months.
It’s been 12 months since then, and it’s safe to say that an “Entourage” movie will not be hitting theaters by December. But the project is still alive, HBO says.
“Doug as of this week is on page 65,” HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo told reporters Wednesday (Aug. 1) at the TV Critics Association press tour. “He’s writing a script, and he’s excited about it. I’ve heard a general pitch for it.”
In other words, despite the talk about following up the series finale almost immediately with a movie, an “Entourage” feature is still a ways away. If, that is, it happens at all.
“After we take a look at the script … we’d still have to make deals with the cast and then figure out whether this is something that makes sense or not,” Lombardo says. “But yes — [Ellin] is in the process of writing as we speak.”
