McSteamy is no more, but Eric Dane is rebounding from the loss of his “Grey’s Anatomy” role with a high profile new project. He’s been tapped for the lead in Michael Bay’s TNT action drama “The Last Ship.”
Dane will star as Captain Tom Chandler, the commanding officer of a Navy ship that survives a global catastrophe that wipes out most of the world population. Chandler and his crew have to deal with being among the few humans still alive.
Bay is executive producing the pilot directed by Jonathan Mostow (“Terminator 3”). “Without a Trace” creator Hank Steinberg and Steven Kane are writing, based on a novel by William Brinkley.
Dane’s co-stars on “The Last Ship” include Michaela McManus (“Awake”), Charles Parnell (“All My Children”), Travis Van Winkle (“90210”), Christina Elmore and Sam Spruell (“Snow White and the Huntsman”).
