MMA fighter Ronda Rousey has made quite a splash outside the octagon. A year ago, she was featured in ESPN’s annual Body Issue and now the 26-year-old athlete is looking to join the upcoming film “Fast and Furious 7.”
Variety reports that Rousey is in talks to join the cast in a supporting role. If the deal becomes official, she’ll be the first major role cast (outside the returning actors) for the seventh installment in the franchise, which starts shooting in the fall. Rousey would reportedly move her training for her next MMA fight to Atlanta because that is where the film is going to be shot.
“Fast and Furious 7” will feature franchise faces Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, with the latter also returning as a producer alongside Neal H. Moritz. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham have also joined the cast.
The only thing known about the plot so far is that the movie will be set in Los Angeles, the setting for the first “Fast and Furious” film.
Rousey can also be seen in the upcoming “Expendables 3,” alongside the just-announced Harrison Ford.
“Fast and Furious 7” is slated for a July 2014 release.
