Now that he doesn’t have jail to worry about for another six months, Floyd Mayweather Jr. can focus his attentions on more pressing things, like fellow boxer Manny Pacquiao. And Mayweather did just that with a series of Twitter posts on Tuesday (Jan. 10).
Mayweather writes, “Manny Pacquiao I’m calling you out let’s fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see.” The antagonism didn’t end there as the boxer adds, “My jail sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk.”
As they say “them’s fighting words”…unless they’re not. The two pugilists have been attempting to set up the fight for years, but they continually get hung up on issues like drug testing and how the cash will be split up.
Whether the Twitter challenge will finally get the wheels in motion for the super fight is anyone’s guess.
