FOX has ordered four high profile drama pilots to series for the 2013-14 TV season including two new projects from “Fringe” veterans and Greg Kinnear’s first stint as a scripted TV series star.
“Almost Human” from the “Fringe” team of J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and J.H. Wyman stars Karl Urban and Michael Ealy in an action-packed buddy cop drama, set in the near future, when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. Lili Taylor, Mackenzie Crook, Michael Irby and Minka Kelly co-star.
“Fringe” producers Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci are behind “Sleepy Hollow,” a modern-day reinvention of the story of Ichabod Crane starring Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie. Orlando Jones and Katia Winter co-star and John Cho guest stars in the pilot.
“Rake” stars Greg Kinnear as a brilliant but self-destructive criminal defense lawyer. It’s based on an Australian series of the same name and the creative team includes “Rescue Me’s” Peter Tolan. Miranda Otto, John Ortiz, Necar Zadegan, Bojana Novakovic, Tara Summers and Ian Colletti co-star.
Finally, “Lost” favorite and star of last season’s failed “666 Park Avenue,” Terry O’Quinn is heading back to TV in “Gang Related.” Ramon Rodriguez, RZA, Jay Hernandez, Sung Kang, Inbar Lavi, Cliff Curtis and Shantel VanSanten also star in the “Departed”-esque story of a gang member (Rodriguez) who infiltrates and rises through the ranks of the San Francisco Police Department.
Left out of FOX’s pick-ups are drama pilots “Boomerang” (starring Felicity Huffman and Anthony LaPaglia as a family of government assassins), young adult novel adaptation “Delirium” (starring Emma Roberts and Daren Kragasoff) and U.S. Marshal series “The List” (starring Michael Pena and Jessica Szhor).
