A pair of Oscar nominees — Frances McDormand and John Malkovich — have signed on to be menaced by giant robots in “Transformers 3.”
“The Hangover” and “Community” star Ken Jeong has also joined the cast, director Michael Bay revealed on his blog Monday (March 22). He also noted that a new Autobot — a Ferrari 458 Italia — will make its debut in the movie, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in July 2011.
Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox are booked to return for the third movie. Just what they, Jeong and “Burn After Reading” co-stars McDormand and Malkovich will be doing, however, remains top secret. Ehren Kruger, who co-wrote “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, is tackling the script solo this time out.
Bay says pre-shoots for “Transformers 3” will start in April. The movie will be a globe-trotting affair, with filming taking place in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Florida and Texas as well as Moscow and locations in China and Africa.
