The last movie Darabont directed was 2007’s “The Mist.” His filmography also includes “The Green Mile,” “The Shawshank Redemption” and “The Majestic.” Deadline reports Darabont is in negotiations to helm the follow-up to 2012 film.
According to the site, Universal Pictures liked Darabont’s pitch for “Snow White and the Huntsman 2” to act as a spinoff to the first film that would focus “almost exclusively” on Chris Hemsworth’s The Huntsman. Apparently there’s no guarantee that Kristen Stewart will reprise her role as Snow White.
The first “Snow White and the Huntsman” movie made headlines more for its off-screen drama than the film itself. Stewart, then beloved for her relationship with “Twilight Saga” beau Robert Pattinson, was photographed having an affair with “Snow White” director Rupert Sanders, who was then married to model Liberty Ross. Sanders was later removed from helming the sequel.
