Prinze’s unfiltered comments come from an interview the actor did with ABC News during the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. There to promote “Star Wars Rebels,” in which he provides voice work, Prinze explains how his experience with Sutherland almost pushed him out of the business.
“I did ’24,’ it was terrible. I hated every moment of it,” Prinze says. “Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That’s not me talking trash, I’d say it to his face. I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that … I just wanted to quit the business after that. So I just sort of stopped.”
Among the things that bothered Prinze about working with Sutherland included the way production forced him to appear shorter than the “24” star. “Just put the guy on an apple box or don’t hire me next time,” Prinze explains. “You know I’m 6 feet and he’s 5-foot-4.”
A star of teen movies in the 1990s — including “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “Scooby Doo” and “She’s All That” — Prinze has mostly worked in various areas of television over the past decade, including a recurring role on “Bones” Season 9.
Although also at Comic-Con to promote “24: Live Another Day,” Sutherland has not yet commented on Prinze’s interview.
