Although doctors say the chances for full recovery are good, comedian Gallagher has been placed in a medically-induced coma after suffering his second heart attack in a year.
The 65-year-old comedian collapsed before taking the stage at a Texas comedy club on Wednesday (March 15). Last year he also suffered a heart attack while performing at a Minnesota club.
“They told us this was more severe,” Karl Maahs, the manager of El Paso’s Speaking Rock club, tells the El Paso Times. “They said he was unconscious. Last year was a pretty [mild] one.”
Gallagher — real name Leo Anthony Gallagher — is best known for his on-stage watermelon smashing.
