What does a celebrity chef have to do with HBO’s new series “Game of Thrones”? If you live in New York or Los Angeles, you can find out in the next couple weeks.
HBO has enlisted Tom Colicchio of “Top Chef” fame to create a few dishes that characters in the show (and the George R.R. Martin novels the show is based on) might enjoy. He’ll be sending the results out in food trucks in New York (March 28-April 1) and L.A. (April 4-8).
As Colicchio explains in the video below, he tried to conceive of dishes that might have actually been consumed in the world of the books, so he’s using ingredients like rabbit, squab and venison. (It’s a little tough, he explained, to spit-roast a whole goat in a food truck.) The trucks will serve free food each day, but they’ll only have 300 portions per day, so the supply will be pretty limited.
Take a look at Colicchio explaining how he came up with the dishes (and possibly betraying a little bit of “GoT” fanboyism).
