If you thought that “Game of Thrones” and hip-hop don’t mix, you thought wrong. HBO has teamed with 10 different rappers to create a mixtape tied to Season 4 to help promote the fantasy series among African-American and Latino audiences.
Common’s song on the mixtape is about “what it feels like to battle to be top dog, and the things people are willing to do get there,” WSJ writes. “I sit and think when I’m in my zone/This life is like a Game of Thrones,” he raps.
The likes of Common and Big Boi were already big fans of the series when they were approached, while Wale says he was unfamiliar. But for those who are obsessed with the show as much as the rest of its fans are, being a part of this mixtape was an honor.
“I’m really happy. I get to be part of the process of one of my favorite shows,” Common says.
