As “Game of Thrones” expands its sets to Spain in Season 5, so does it expand its global presence.
A casting call for extras in the new location drew in 10,000 submissions after being open for only 24 hours. Spanish production company Fresco Films posted the news to its Facebook page, saying it hopes to respond to all the e-mails “as soon as possible.”
After being rumored for weeks, HBO confirmed that “Game of Thrones” would shoot scenes from Season 5 in Sevilla, Spain on July 2. The scenes shot in Spain will be set in the Westerosi provence of Dorne, where Oberyn Martell hailed from.
The characters of Prince Doran, Oberyn’s brother; Trystane Martell, Doran’s son; and Oberyn’s bastard daughters the Sand Snakes are being cast in Season 5. Chances are the extras being cast are being used to fill out the Dornish capital city, Sunspear.
“Game of Thrones” is expected to return in spring 2015.
