“Game of Thrones” is a drama of epic proportions, dealing with serious issues of life and death. Rare moments of levity are always countered with heavy tragedy.
So how could anyone see this story as a sitcom? Believe it or not, that’s exactly what you get in a rather silly version of the opening credits.
Done in the style of a classic sitcom from the 1970s or 1980s, this “Game of Thrones” features smiling players from a bunch of families dealing with life in the wacky world of Westeros. How could you not have fun with actors like “Nick Waldo” (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, of course) and characters like “The Dragon Queen”?
And it’s amazing the difference a laugh track makes in the opening scene of “Winter’s Coming.”
