HBO has held “Game of Thrones” to 10-episode seasons through its first four years on the air, but author George R.R. Martin really wishes that would change. In an interview with the New York Times, he laments the fact that the TV show doesn’t have more time to explore the nuanced character relations he writes in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels.
One scene in particular that he misses is from Season 1, when Arya and Sansa fight after they are invited to have lunch with Queen Cersei. According to the Times, Martin “misses the scene because it adds texture and helps establish early on the characters of and relationship between the sisters.”
Martin also offers a non-update on his latest novel, “The Winds of Winter.” When asked about its status, he says, “It’s going along,” with the sigh of “a good dreamer on deadline” in his voice.
