UPDATE: It turns out that Gia Allemand died from an apparent suicide. Her family released a statement saying that boyfriend Ryan Anderson found Allemand in her home and called 911. TMZ adds that Allemand hanged herself. She remained in critical condition up until her death.
“Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn,” the family’s statement reads. “Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other lifelong friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites.”
It continues, “Loved ones and fans will remember Gia Allemand as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and mission to rescue homeless pets.”

Gia Allemand has passed away, according to new reports. A family member tells TMZ that “The Bachelor” contestant died at age 29 with her mother and longtime boyfriend, NBA player Ryan Anderson, at her side.
News broke on Aug. 12 that Allemand was hospitalized in New Orleans after a “serious emergency medical event.” More details have not been revealed other than the fact she was placed on life support.
Allemand was most famous for coming in third place during Season 14 of “The Bachelor.” She went on to play on Seasons 1 and 2 of “Bachelor Pad.” Many “The Bachelor” alums tweeted their love for Allemand, including the man she was competing for in the show, Jake Pavelka.
