Gina Carano is generally considered one of the most kick-butt female Mixed Martial Arts fighters of all time. Her career record was 7-1 and she was at one time ranked no. 3 in her weight class in the world.
Now the pretty brunette is taking to the silver screen in Steven Soderbergh’s new movie “Haywire,” alongside Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton, so, ya know, that’s a pretty cool list of co-stars.
In the movie, Carano is Mallory Kane, a freelance black-ops soldier seeking payback on the people who set her up and betrayed her during a mission. Watch the first five minutes of the movie above (warning: mature content). Also, reports say Carano did all her own stunts, which is awesome.
In a weird bit of news, TMZ is reporting that sources close to the production say Carano’s voice didn’t sound right in the film, so they changed it in post-production. But they don’t know if it was her voice that was altered, or if someone else’s voice was dubbed in. Either way, the production company has not commented or confirmed these allegations.
“Haywire” opens nationwide Jan. 20. There are only six critics weighing in so far on Rotten Tomatoes, but they all have given it a thumbs up.
