When it was announced that pint-sized singer Charice (born Charice Pempengco) had snagged a role on “Glee,” her fans were thrilled. Unfortunately, in her first episode, Charice’s character Sunshine left McKinley High for a rival glee club after a battle with Rachel (Lea Michele) — and we haven’t heard from her since.
Charice has quite the rags-to-riches story – born in the Philippines, she was exposed to extreme domestic abuse as a child. Things turned around for her when her extraordinary singing voice was discovered via YouTube by The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Charice went on to perform on Oprah, and even to duet with her idol, Celine Dion. It’s no wonder that she’s idolized by so many.
If you’re a Charice fan, we’ve got good news for you — your girl is back on the “Glee” set in Hollywood! On March 8 Michele tweeted a photo of herself with her one-time duet partner, saying, “”Look who’s back!! So happy!!!”
Charice is rumored to be returning for four episodes as a member of Vocal Adrenaline, New Directions’ most threatening opposition for Nationals this season.
