Our girlcrush on Gwyneth Paltrow snuck up on us out of nowhere this year as she burst back into relevance with her movie “Country Strong,” an impressive performance at the CMAs, and a surprisingly non-annoying guest appearance on “Glee.”
It’s a good thing we’ve fallen back in love with her, because it doesn’t look like she’ll fade back into GOOP-y obscurity any time soon. AceShowBiz confirms that Paltrow will return to “Glee” as the almost-too-cool-for-school substitute teacher Holly Holiday.
While we’re thrilled to have her back, there’s one person who likely won’t be DVR-ing the episode… Lindsay Lohan.
Poor Lilo was catching up on “Glee” while in the Betty Ford Clinic when she heard Paltrow’s character crack a few jokes about Lindsay’s various rehab stints as she asked her Spanish class, “How many times has Lindsay Lohan been to rehab?”
Lohan’s mother, Dina Lohan, went on the record with RadarOnline about the incident. “[Lindsay] called me and was upset and said, ‘Why did she have to do that?'” Dina says. “We are the first to make fun of ourselves in our family, and Lindsay has even done SNL a few times, but Gwyneth went overboard and it was unnecessary. Lindsay thought she was a friend and it was disappointing.”
We’d just like to point out that Lohan’s disappointment might be better directed at the “Glee” writers and producers, since it’s a scripted show and Paltrow was playing a character trying far too hard to keep up with her students’ pop-culture context.
Then again, taking aim at the actress, as opposed to those behind the scenes, probably garners more headlines. Like this one. So carry on, Lohans. You win again.
