That “Glee” hasn’t jumped the shark yet is a testament to its continued inability to over-saturate the market with “Glee”-ness despite the fact that the show has permeated nearly every segment of the pop culture landscape, from TV to album charts to 10-year-old nieces who just won’t shut up about it.
On Wednesday (May 3), “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy and Twentieth Century Fox announced plans to release “GLEE LIVE! 3D!” According to The Wrap, the movie will feature enhanced footage from the “Glee Live! In Concert!” North American tour.
Mark your calendars now, Gleeks. The movie hits theaters on Aug. 12.
“We knew that not every fan who wanted to attend a concert would get that opportunity, said Murphy in a statement. “Now, thanks to our friends at Twentieth Century Fox Film, we’ll be able to bring the concert experience to movie theaters across the country in full three dimensional glory. We promise every passionate ‘Gleek’ a cinematic experience that will have them singing and dancing in the aisles.”
Okay, well, we’ll hold him to it.
We just hope Murphy will figure out a way to incorporate Jane Lynch. Because, really, what would a 3D “Glee” experience be without a Sue Sylvester extreme close up?
