Google celebrates the late Muppet master Jim Henson today, on what would have been his 75th birthday.
Henson passed away at age 53 from a bacterial infection, but not before he left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment. His characters, most notably Kermit the Frog, are iconic, and he was behind the scenes of many of our other pop culture staples as well, not the least of which was Yoda in “The Empire Strikes Back.”
Jason Segel’s ode to Henson’s work, “The Muppets” will open November 23, exposing a new generation of kids to the characters (and giving us big kids an excuse for a serious nostalgia-fest at the movie theater).
In the meantime, we’ll just be over here, procrastinating for hours with the interactive Google Doodle. You are missed.
