“It’s not an exaggeration to say that the crew has been planning Blair’s (Leighton Meester) wedding since the pilot,” Savage says. She also noted the exceptional level of detail in the production, all the way down to Blair’s initials hanging on every church pew.
Savage states that when it came down to wedding apparel, there was really only one choice, Vera Wang.
“Vera Wang made [Blair’s] dress…That felt like a great fit because Vera’s such an iconic New York character,” she says.
Of course the beauty of the event isn’t limited to Blair. The bridesmaids, especially Serena, all wear fashion befitting of a high society wedding. In fact Safran thinks that Serena (Blake Lively) might just steal the show.
“It’s definitely a Pippa moment,” Safran adds, making comparisons between Blake Lively and Pippa Middleton.
Despite the sophisticated nature of the affair, the wedding will still feature some fun touches, specifically the music.
“Blair has an affinity for ’80s pop songs,” Savage says. As a result, producers signed up the group Vitamin String Quartet to play a classical music version of Pat Benatar’s “We Belong” and “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS.
Now the only question left is whether Blair and Louis will actually tie the knot. It’s a tear jerker, but perhaps not for the right reasons.
