“Gossip Girl” started out as slow as a cab trip through Midtown on Monday (April 16). But it went from zero-to-100 in no time and answered a major question that viewers have been wondering about since the series began.
Here’s what happened on the Upper East Side…
Chuck’s Mom – Maybe it’s because we were lulled into a medium slumber by this story line. But in just a few short words we were jolted awake by the admission from Diana Payne (Elizabeth Hurley) that she’s Chuck’s mother. This announcement caused Chuck (Ed Westwick) to freak out and rightfully so. It’s perhaps the only emotion that Mr. Bass has offered since mid-season, but it was an excellent reaction.
Dan (Penn Badgley) and Blair (Leighton Meester) – They try to have their first party as a couple. It starts off surprisingly fine, this despite the fact that Blair breaks out in hives whenever she has to go across the East River. But when the party goes south, Team Dair starts to wonder whether they can survive in their two different worlds. They can…for now.
Gossip Girl – Serena’s (Blake Lively) not very good at covering her tracks. The first person to sleuth her out as the proprietor of Gossip Girl is Lola (Ella Rae Peck). But when given the opportunity to tell the world what she now knows, Lola not only takes a pass, but she skips town (or at least that part of town).
Uh oh. Uh oh.
