When you hear her roar, Katy Perry is thinking of Charlie Sheen.
His phrase “tiger blood” is what sticks in her mind, as she tells E!’s Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, when she performs the hit song that has earned her nominations for Song of the Year and Best Solo Pop Performance in the 56th Grammy Awards.
“I didn’t follow all of that,” she admits of the immediate period after Sheen was axed from CBS’ “Two and a Half Men” and his tour of talking about it, “but that’s what I feel like now” whenever she renders “Roar.”
The song “took on a life of its own,” Perry adds, “and it’s still out there roaring. Every day, I see [‘Roar’-related] videos that kids made, and that inspires me.”
So does Perry’s new role as a spokesperson for Cover Girl cosmetics … and it’s probably a coincidence that one of those ads popped up on E!’s Grammy pre-show coverage moments after she talked with Seacrest..
She’s already appreciating the perks of the job, particularly the “tons of makeup that you can share with all your girlfriends.” And being one of the latest Cover Girl faces, Perry adds, is a sign that “you feel like you made it.”
