Realizing he’s a Grimm and the responsibilities that come along with that have proven challenging for Nick (David Giuntoli) on the NBC drama. He’s spent much of his time in reactive mode as he learns more about his heritage. But we can look for this to slowly change as the season progresses.
In discussing his character’s evolution, Giuntoli explains, “Nick kind of goes from perpetually stunned observer to kind of passive observer…And [he] slowly starts to really use these tools to his advantage.”
But Giuntoli adds he’d ultimately like to see Nick become much more bold and aggressive. Something he fully expects as the series continues.
“I would love to see my character…turn into kind of an active hunter or profiler who doesn’t just read the books but adds to them,” he says.
As for other things fans of “Grimm” can expect to see in the coming weeks, Sasha Roiz, who plays Captain Sean Renard, explains that the series will delve further into his background. He says that the show will look into why he’s “as stern and as unyielding as he is.”
“I see him very much as a character who believes in a certain order…with him at the top,” Roiz says. “And he wants peace and he wants civil obedience within it. And he’ll stop at nothing to achieve that.”
He adds, “There’s definitely a sense of other royals and competition and a certain pressure to get things accomplished because there’s definitely a time factor because they’re all sort of vying for positions of power.”
We’ll find out more soon.
“Grimm” airs on Friday (March 2) at 9 p.m. ET.
