“Guardians of the Galaxy” already boasts a stellar cast, anchored by Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper. Now you can add one more to the list in the form of “Castle” star Nathan Fillion.
But the reports of him playing Nova, a frequent ally of Pratt’s Star-Lord, are “greatly exaggerated,” writes director James Gunn on Twitter. But he does confirm that Fillion “has a very small fun cameo he did as a favor to me.” The two previously worked together on “Super” and “Slither.”
So, who do you think Fillion will play? Let the speculating begin, Marvel universe fans.
There are a lot of fans online who want to see Fillion reprise his role of Captain Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds from “Firefly,” which could be possible since “Firefly” creator Joss Whedon is now kind of the Marvel universe guru. But it probably depends on who actually owns the rights to the character.
Either way, Nathan Fillion has teased for Hypable that his cameo may be part of the credits sequence at the end, so don’t leave your seats too early, moviegoers.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” opens nationwide Friday, Aug. 1.
