Before he was one of the biggest movies stars on the planet, everyone knows that Dwayne Johnson was simply known as The Rock, one of the most popular superstars in WWE history — or if you ask him, the most electrifying. Johnson was the first third-generation wrestler to compete in the company, as the son of Rocky Johnson and grandson of “High Chief” Peter Maivia.
Johnson is celebrating his 43rd birthday Saturday (May 2) and to celebrate, Zap2it is taking a trip back in time, all the way to 1996. That was the year Johnson made his WWE debut as Rocky Maivia, but before setting foot in the ring he sat down for an interview.
Knowing how charismatic Johnson would eventually become, it’s easy to tell the building block are there. It’s a far cry from the heights he eventually reached though, as you can see by his more recent WWE appearances.
