Easter has come early for the box office. Universal and Illumination Entertainment’s partially-CGI Easter Bunny flick “Hop” made double its closest competition on opening night.

The film took in $11.4 million during its first day — which bodes well for a strong performance during the more child-friendly hours of the weekend.

Coming in at #2 is Jake Gyllenhaal‘s critically well-received “Source Code.” The thriller has modest returns with $5.2 million, just a shade above new horror movie “Insidious” ($5 million).
