Lionsgate has revealed the newest person joining “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2,” and it’s an important character she will be portraying. Stef Dawson has been cast as Annie Cresta, the love of Finnick Odair’s (Sam Claflin) life and a former Hunger Games victor in her own right. Dawson is a relative newcomer, with most of her resume consisting of a handful of short films.
In “Mockingjay,” Annie is arrested by the Capitol during the rebellion and held captive. Her character is described as having gone crazy while competing in the arena, after seeing her district partner beheaded.
Previously, “Game of Thrones” star Natalie Dormer was added to the “Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2” cast as Cressida, a film director from the Capitol who joins the rebellion. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” is scheduled to begin production in September for a November 21, 2014 release. The next installment in the franchise, “Catching Fire,” is in theaters November 22.
