Well, we are certainly glad to know that scientists are using their funding for important things! Word is, researchers at Duke University have had a breakthrough in creating an Invisibility Cloak. Scientists did some science and were able to develop a cloak, made of fiberglass and copper, that completely hid a small object from the naked eye.
Basically, by intricately weaving copper and fiberglass etched with copper in a very specific, row-by-row pattern, the researchers were able to bend light around an object.
“We built the cloak, and it worked. It split light into two waves which
traveled around an object in the center and re-emerged as the single
wave with minimal loss due to reflections,” Nathan Landy, a grad student who worked on the project, tells TG Daily.
It only works from one side — they’re still working on a fully 3D
invisibility cloak — but it eliminates the reflection issues created
with previous versions of invisibility cloaks, which would never have
