Every so often, we get a burst of rumors about new Apple product generations — most of them turn out to be wrong, but it’s still fun to speculate about the next big thing that we’re inevitably going to end up waiting in line for at the Apple Store.
This time, the Washington Post is talking iPad 3, which might have one major improvement — a new kind of HD screen. A sketchy-sounding source suggests that a new device will be introduced with a 9.7-inch screen, and also expects a January announcement.
Other analysts suggest that the iPad will be announced vaguely between February and April, with some speculating that it’ll be unveiled in time to honor Steve Jobs’ birthday on February 24th.
Meanwhile, experts at ZDNet suggest that there won’t be a price cut, because Apple simply doesn’t have to reduce the prices to move product. They’re also not anticipating a significant redesign, though it may be expanded to 128 GB.
While an improved camera is likely, don’t hold your breath for that ever-elusive USB port.
What do you think, Zappers? Are you in the market for a new tablet this spring?
