Apple is making a big colorful announcement on Sept. 10, and many people already believe they know what the company is unveiling: a new iPhone with a fingerprint scanner. Rumors have been circling all year that the next generation iPhone, reportedly called the iPhone 5S, will include a sensor on the home button that will require a fingerprint to use.
Now new photos have hit the web seemingly confirming the sensor’s existence. The images, which were leaked by Chinese website C Technology and can be seen here, seem to show that the new iPhone will have a silver ring around the home button. It is speculated that that will be the fingerprint scanner.
A previously leaked photo was released recently seemingly showing the complicated technology that is going into the iPhone 5S’s home button. A square pad in the home button flex cable seemed to be where a fingerprint scanner could be placed. All answers will be revealed during the Apple announcement on Sept. 10, which will take place at 10 a.m. PT. It’s also speculated that the company will announce the iPhone 5C, a cheaper version of the iPhone offered in a variety of colors. Both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are expected to be the first generations of the iPhone to be equipped with iOS7.
