In what could shape up to be a bigger nightmare for Republicans than the 2012 election, noted liberal Jane Fonda will play Nancy Reagan in director Lee Daniels’ (“Precious”) new movie, “The Butler.”
Reagan is, of course, the widow of Republican god Ronald Reagan, the coiner of the “Just Say No” anti-drug campaign and inveterate wearer of red.
According to Variety, Fonda is just one former first lady that will be featured in the movie about a butler who worked at the White House from 1952 to 1986. Forest Whitaker is close to closing a deal to play the title character, butler Eugene Allen.
Meanwhile, Liam Neeson is reportedly in talks to play Lyndon B. Johnson, John Cusack is rumored to be on deck to star as Richard Nixon (and our teenage heart just died a little) and Mila Kunis and Hugh Jackman are supposedly circling the roles of Jackie and John F. Kennedy.
Wrote one tweeter in response to Fonda’s casting, “OK, this is just tragic. I’d rather see Chaz Bono in the role instead of that traitor.”
FOX News, too, registered their shock by posting this exclamatory headline:
