What’s the key to a successful Emmy Awards evening for host Jane Lynch? A cookie. “I’m feeling pretty well,” she told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet before the show began. “I slept very well last night, which was good. I had a cookie and went to bed. That’s how I treated myself.”
The “Glee” actress had a relatively laid-back morning before the big show, as well — she even slept in! “I had to be woken up which is weird for me, because I’m up at the crack of dawn,” she says. “All of a sudden I was into it and everything I’ve been preparing for was about to happen.”
Though the show this year didn’t stray too far from the usual format, it did have a little added humor, thanks to presenters coming up with their own bits. “It’s a little different this year. We’re not reinventing the wheel here,” Lynch says. She also warned, “Once it starts its like a frickin freight train.”
So what does an Emmy host do once her duties have been completed?
“I’m going to take off my heels, and I’m going to eat every ounce of food in front of me at the Governor’s Ball.”
