NBA player Jason Collins has booked his first late-night appearance since coming out. He’ll be on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” next week.
Collins, who came out in a Sports Illustrated essay last week, will appear with his twin brother Jarron on the May 15 edition of “JKL.” The brothers will discuss Jason’s coming out — he’s the first active player in a major American team sport to publicly state he’s gay — and the reaction to it with Kimmel.
Jason Collins has been making the media rounds since his announcement, doing interviews with “Good Morning America” and with Oprah Winfrey. Jarron, a retired NBA player who’s now a broadcaster, also was part of the Oprah special.
Kimmel’s other scheduled guests for May 15 are “Star Trek Into Darkness” director J.J. Abrams and Huey Lewis and the News.
