“Today” Sunday anchor Jenna Wolfe and her NBC foreign correspondent girlfriend Stephanie Gosk have big news to share. The couple publicly came out amid the public conversation of marriage equality with the news that they’re expecting their first child.
“Of all the jaw-dropping, head-turning and eye-popping things I’ve ever told my friends and family (‘I swam with killer sharks,’ ‘I jet-packed 30 feet out of the water,’ ‘I scaled the tallest building in Canada’), nothing garnered more shock and awe (and, yes, some tears) than when I told people I was pregnant,” Wolfe writes in a blog post for Today.
“Just writing those words — ‘I’m pregnant’ — is surreal to me,” she continues. “My girlfriend, Stephanie Gosk, and I are expecting a baby girl the end of August. As of this week, I am about five months pregnant.”
Wolfe and Gosk have been dating for three years and plan to marry. Their child was conceived through artificial insemination with an anonymous donor. As for her decision to reveal her sexual orientation, Wolfe tells People, “I don’t want to bring my daughter into a world where I’m not comfortable telling everyone who I am and who her mother is.”
